El Rodadero - Santa Marta - Colombia

Published on April 5, 2022 2 min read

Hi to everyone.

After posting a lot of stuff about Pisa and its surroundings, I decided to change and post something about Colombia.

I lived in Colombia, in the city of Santa Marta, for 14 years, so I consider Colombia my second home.

The pictures I am going to post here are abot El Rodadero. El Rodadero is a turistic suburb some 5 or 6 km south of Santa Marta proper. The 2 are separeted by the mount Ziruma.

The pictures were taken over 14 years, from 2007 until 2021, and shows different part of El Rodadero. Keep that in mind because when I took the first pictures mobile phone camera were no to so good as they are today.

This picture show a small Luna Park that was right on the beach. The park has lon been dismantled.

In Colombia sewers don't works very well, so when there's heavy rain streets get flooded.

Painting of an high rise building, colombian style. Those guys are actually hanging at 8th floor (US floor numbering).

Christmas lights on El Rodadero beach.

Before COVID, El Rodadero was Colombia beach party capital.

Especially from mid december until mid january, it used to get totally packed, to the point that even walkin in the street became a difficult task.

El Rodadero was born as a turist destination in 1954, when the road connecting it with Santa Marta over mount Ziruma was built. The first high rise builduings followed soon.

Let's hope the pandemics finish soon and El Rodadero can come back to its former glory.

That's all for now, I hope you will enjoy.
